About The River Church of New Jersey
The River Church of New Jersey serves the Northern Bergen County area.
We hope you will join us for worship. We are located at Genesee Ave and Teaneck Rd in Teaneck, NJ.
Our Vision
The River Church is a non-denominational church, which seeks to bring people closer to God and to each other in Christian community. The name, River Church, was chosen because we have come to see that people not only need to drink water regularly, but that we all have a spiritual thirst to be loved and to develop fulfilling relationships. The BIBLE tells us that we were made to be close to God and to know His love for us through Jesus, His Son, but so often we keep God at a distance. He longs to hold you close and quench your thirst. We hope that the River Church will help you taste God’s goodness.
Our Beliefs
Scripture – We believe the Bible to be the word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. We believe the Bible’s truth is timeless and speaks to us today.
Trinity – We believe that the Bible teaches that one real and personal God exists, as the Holy Trinity, eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Humanity – We believe that according to God’s Word every person was created in the image of God to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. However, humanity is separated from God because of our sin. We believe that all people are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except through His mercy.
Jesus – We believe that Jesus is the Eternal Son of God who became a human being. He lived a sinless life, obeying God’s Law fully, suffered and died on the cross for the sins of His people, and was then physically raised from the dead on the third day. He did all of this to accomplish the salvation of His people.
Salvation – We believe that salvation is received by faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by good works. Anyone who trusts and believes in Jesus’ death for their personal sins is forgiven and accepted by God, and is restored into a personal relationship with Him as His children.
Church – The purpose of the church is to bring Christ, the living water, to thirsty people. In response to the salvation Christ brings, believers worship God, celebrate and share the gospel, disciple and pray for one another, and reach out to the community with compassion.
